FirstFour is looking for Steel Structural Fitters to join our team at a major shipyard in Mobile, Alabama, Day Shift, 50 hours per week.
COMPENSATION: $37 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technically proficient in tasks, work processes, and equipment operation.
Accountable for completion of daily work assignments including the completion and signatures for work completion and quality.
Creates a working environment compliant with quality, safety, environmental, and health regulations and policies.
Rigs plates and equipment safely.
Maintains cleanliness and organization on assigned job sites.
Accountable for completion of daily work assignments including the completion and signatures for work completion and quality.
Performs safe and effective use of craft related tools and equipment, including but not limited to: millers, sanders, grinders, burr motors, band saws, skill saws, saws all, come along and chain falls etc.
Obtain GMAW ABS ‘B’ Class Weld Certification for aluminum applications.
Performs basic layout of plates, materials and weldments using basic engineering sketches, drawings, and diagrams with minimal supervision.
Performs ship fitting functions such as but not limited to fit up of structure, cutting, sniping, sanding, grinding, prepping, tacking and the fit up of plates with minimum supervision.
Performs fitting operations with limited supervision using standard ship fitting equipment to accomplish fabrication and ship repair duties.
Monitors working environment for compliance with quality, safety, environmental and health regulations.
Must be willing to work with and train lower-skilled workers.
May be assigned to work any shift.
May be assigned additional tasks including outside the craft as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
Pass approved A-Class Fitter Test.
Must demonstrate ability to interpret and work from construction drawings, job specifications, instruction manuals, manufacturer’s handbooks, change order, and contract specifications.
Thorough knowledge of equipment, work processes and techniques used in measuring, and fitting of aluminum components, modules and vessels.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure using the metric system.
Knowledge of shipyard terminology such as general ship structure and vessel layout.
Knowledge of edge preparation and weld joint details.
Advanced working knowledge of engineering drawings and sketches.
FirstFour is looking for Structural Welders to join our team at a major shipyard in Mobile, Alabama.
COMPENSATION: $34.00 per hour Sign on Bonus: $1000.00
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Single-pass and multi-pass fillets in all positions, for all joint and material thickness configurations
Multi-pass full penetration joint details, for all joint and material thickness configurations
MIG Welding 100% Argon – 2G, 3G, and 4G to xray standard
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma/GED OR two years of maritime experience.
Ability to weld in uncomfortable positions where applicable.
Minimum of 3 years of GMAW MIG welding experience at a comparable employer.
Ability to pass A Class skills evaluation test to demonstrate welding ability for full penetration joint details.
Ability to successfully complete onboarding procedures in preparation to pass AL CV weld qualification test requirements to meet contract requirements for A Class welding on the vessel.
Demonstrated ability to weld fillets for material thicknesses 4mm- 25mm.
Demonstrated ability to weld gusset toe and wraps with minimal blending required.
Demonstrated ability to weld frame wraps and terminations with minimal blending required.
Demonstrated ability to weld T-Bar wraps and terminations with minimal blending required.
Demonstrated ability to weld into corners / vertical intersections with minimal blending required.
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and correct basic weld pick up, with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to terminate stich welds with minimal weld correction to address minor cosmetic or weld defects.
Demonstrated ability to weld continuously for 400mm.
We are hiring for 1st Class Shipfitters for a long-term assignment with a local shipyard repair facility,
Candidates should have 3 years or more experience fitting in a shipyard environment.
All approved candidates will be required to take and pass a fitting test consisting of the construction of a picture frame intended to test your ability to measure, cut, bend, and tack angle iron.
Layout out, cutting, forming, and drilling material according to blueprints
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a structural fitter in a shipyard
$31.00 Day $32.00 Night
Overtime is offered 50-70 hours per week.
