First Class Sheet Metal Mechanic
Pay -$40 (Locals only)
Job Description:
- Cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using shears, brakes, punches, and rollers to create components and structures as per blueprints and job specifications.
- Assemble fabricated sheet metal components into finished products, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and functionality according to assembly drawings and instructions.
- Install and repair foundations, ventilation, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and other sheet metal fabrication work.
- Inspect fabricated parts and assemblies for defects, dimensional accuracy, and conformance to quality standards, adjusting as necessary to meet specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on fabrication equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged components, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safe work practices.
Job Requirements:
- Solid understanding of shipbuilding and/or manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to read blueprints.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on your own.

- Must be able to pass a background no felonies.
