FirstFour is looking for Steel or Aluminum Structural or Ship Fitters to join our team at a major shipyard in Mobile, Alabama, Day Shift, 40+ hours per week. 

Aluminum or Steel SF or Structural Fitter 

COMPENSATION: $28.50 per hour
SIGN ON BONUS:  $1000 

SHIFT – Day Shift – 5:30 am to 2:00pm 
SHIFT – Night Shift – 4:30pm to 3:00am 

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

• Pass approved A-Class Fitter Test.
• 3 years' experience as a Structural or Ship Fitter.  
• Must demonstrate ability to interpret and work from construction drawings, job specifications, instruction manuals, manufacturer’s handbooks, change order, and contract specifications.
• Thorough knowledge of equipment, work processes and techniques used in measuring, and fitting of aluminum or steel components, modules and vessels.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure using the metric system.
• Knowledge of shipyard terminology such as general ship structure and vessel layout.
• Knowledge of edge preparation and weld joint details.
• Advanced working knowledge of engineering drawings and sketches.
• Drug screen and 7 year background check required.
• US Citizen or Perm Resident is required at this government facility

• Pass TIG weld test procedure for aluminum pipe.
• All work is performed inside a shop / warehouse environment.

• Pass the “B” Class pipe welder tests: with 6G certifications for copper nickel and stainless steel.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

• Single-pass and multi-pass fillets in all positions, for all joint and material thickness configurations
• Multi-pass full penetration joint details, for all joint and material thickness configurations
• MIG Welding 100% Argon – 2G, 3G, and 4G to xray standard

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma/GED OR two years of maritime experience.
• Ability to weld in uncomfortable positions where applicable.
• Minimum of 3 years of GMAW MIG welding experience at a comparable employer.
• Ability to pass A Class skills evaluation test to demonstrate welding ability for full penetration joint details.
• Ability to successfully complete onboarding procedures in preparation to pass AL CV weld qualification test requirements to meet contract requirements for A Class welding on the vessel.
• Demonstrated ability to weld fillets for material thicknesses 4mm- 25mm.
• Demonstrated ability to weld gusset toe and wraps with minimal blending required.
