FP&A Manager – Job Costing Focus

FirstFour Staffing is seeking an experienced FP&A Manager to support a company overseeing multiple businesses in the maritime, defense, and industrial sectors. This role will play a key part in providing accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights to leadership by consolidating business performance across divisions.
SUMMARY
The FP&A Manager will be responsible for analyzing financial and operational performance across the company’s portfolio of businesses. Reporting directly to the COO, this individual will extract, consolidate, and interpret financial data to improve decision-making at the executive level. A strong background in construction, shipbuilding, or other job-costing environments is required to effectively evaluate projects, track costs, and identify discrepancies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consolidate and review financial results across all businesses and prepare reports for executive leadership.
- Provide operational insights and recommendations to the COO to support strategic decision-making.
- Apply expertise in job costing, construction, or shipbuilding to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Identify errors, discrepancies, or inefficiencies within financial data and partner with employees to make corrections and prevent recurrence.
- Develop and maintain forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis models.
- Collaborate with operations, project managers, and finance staff to align financial reporting with business activities.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in financial reporting.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and analytical resource to executive leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive finance experience, including construction/shipbuilding/job costing (required).
- Prior FP&A or financial leadership experience with multi-entity or parent company structures preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful business insights.
- Proven track record of identifying issues, resolving discrepancies, and implementing process improvements.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools; ERP experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate across teams and present to executives.
