Compensation:
1st Class – $40.00 per hour plus $147.04 in daily per diem
Qualified Candidates:
- Prior Shipyard experience a minimum of 4 or more years of experience as an outside machinist
- Installs, aligns, and repairs ship machinery such as propelling machinery, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilating equipment, steering gear, laundry and galley equipment, working from blueprints and using hand tools, calipers and micrometers.
- Lays out passage holes on bulkheads, decks, and other surfaces for connection such as shafting and steam lines.
- Align reduction gears, bearing, shafting, propellers, and rudder and steering engine assemblies.

Required experience:
- Knowledge to inspect three (3) or more of the following areas: welding, machining, painting (coating), piping, mechanical, and testing.
- Utilize more than visual inspection and testing techniques, such as NDE inspections including Radiographic film interpretation, Liquid Penetrate Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UT).
- Ability to read and interpret codes and specifications, and advanced blueprint reading.
