Insurance Billing Specialist
Location:Daphne, AL
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $16–$17 per hour
FirstFour Staffing is partnering with a large hospital on the Eastern Shore to hire an Insurance Billing Specialist to support insurance verification, claims follow-up, and patient financial services. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely reimbursement while delivering excellent service to patients and internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Verify insurance coverage for scheduled procedures, diagnostics, and surgeries
- Confirm benefits, policy status, and determine precertification requirements
- Ensure accuracy of codes, dates, and facility information to secure payment
- Review and work unpaid claims and claims edits for all payers
- Analyze patient account data and resolve billing discrepancies
- Communicate with patients regarding insurance coverage, balances, and payment options
- Counsel patients on payment plans and financial arrangements
- Answer incoming calls and provide professional, courteous customer support
- Maintain accurate documentation and assist with administrative projects as needed
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills required
- Experience in medical insurance, dental insurance, billing, precertification, front desk, or pharmacy front desk (CVS/Walgreens) highly preferred
- Prior healthcare or hospital experience is a plus but not required
- EPIC experience is a plus but not required
- Comfortable working with insurance companies, patient accounts, and claims
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-up skills
