About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Reliability Engineer to join a highly automated manufacturing operation in Calvert, Alabama. This position will play a critical role in improving equipment reliability, reducing unplanned downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within a state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill environment.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, root cause analysis, and electrical systems troubleshooting within heavy industrial manufacturing environments such as steel, metals, paper, chemical processing, mining, refinery, cement, or other continuous process industries.

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the subject matter expert for electrical reliability and asset management practices.
• Develop and implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies to improve equipment performance and reduce failures.
• Lead and facilitate Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations, Cause Mapping sessions, and Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives.
• Analyze equipment performance data and identify opportunities to improve reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and asset utilization.
• Support maintenance and operations teams by providing engineering guidance for critical equipment issues and major breakdown events.
• Develop technically based maintenance strategies, preventive maintenance plans, and predictive maintenance programs.
• Track and trend equipment performance metrics, downtime data, and maintenance KPIs.
• Participate in inspections and analysis of critical assets including motors, drives, automation systems, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Review engineering drawings, schematics, technical documentation, and maintenance procedures.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to various levels of the organization.
• Support initiatives related to safety, quality, sustainability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of:
• Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
• Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)
• Cause Mapping methodologies
• Predictive Maintenance (PdM) practices
• Equipment performance analysis and maintenance optimization
• Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting equipment reliability data.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred:
• Predictive Maintenance certifications or experience in:
• Vibration Analysis
• Thermography
• Oil Analysis
• Tribology
• Motor Circuit Analysis
• Experience with SAP maintenance modules.
• Proficiency with Power BI and data visualization tools.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Previous experience in steel manufacturing, rolling mills, or other highly automated heavy industrial facilities.
