IT Director 

  • Manages
    • Four general IT support personnel at different locations
    • Three Business Analysts
  • Also responsible for a technical call center (manages the online ordering – 60%+ of their orders come through electronically)
  • This position has room for restructuring of the IT department, repurposing current employees and bringing in newly created positions, depending on needs.
  • Would receive either a company car or car allowance
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions at the location. This includes directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Management

  • Directs MIS, Business Analytics, and Business Sales Intelligence to position the company to be the most efficient and profitable.
  • Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions.
  • Functions as an overall IT generalist with a broad understanding of hardware, software, programing, security, functionality vs. use, etc.
  • An understanding of Visual Basic, CCS programming.
  • Comfortable with SQL Server data bases and reporting tools.
  • Ensures network security and best products for the organization’s needs.
  • Represents the IT Department on the Senior Management Team and assist in efficiency through problem-solving with-Information Technology data driven solutions.  Takes the information back to staff to problem solve and implement.
  • Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing applications by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions
  • Directs operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Produces detailed timeline for each application release and implements effective project control by monitoring the progress of the software release and reporting the status
  • Directs and prioritizes the workload of subordinate personnel
  • Reviews all designs, code and unit test plans where applicable.
  • Approves all business requirements prior to the technical solution.
  • Participates on all hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
  • Represents the IT function at customer review meeting when appropriate.
  • Directs education programs for her/his staff
  • Perform liaison duties between users, operations, and programming personnel in the areas of systems design, modifications or trouble shooting.
  • Performs salary administration and conducts interviews and makes recommendations for new hires, consultants and/or replacement personnel.

Supervision

  • Uses strengths-based supervision so each person supervised comes to know his/her own strengths and weaknesses and uses strengths in day-to-day work.
  • Ensures that each employee supervised has opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Provides clear expectations for each supervised staff.
  • Models adherence to company Values and holds staff accountable for knowing and practicing the values.
  • Completes coaching regularly of supervised staff performance evaluations annually by due date.
  • Provides direct supervision to the IT Managers and other IT staff as assigned.

Learning Organization and Staff Training

  • Actively participates in internal and external training opportunities.
  • Exhibits enthusiasm for learning and personal growth.
  • Understands and can describe key components of all business lines, customers, and suppliers.

Technology
Effectively uses office equipment (copiers, fax machines, scanners), a personal computer and Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Explorer.
Efficiently uses operations management software, including VIP.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or Business
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in Information Technology
  • Extensive knowledge of Information Technology and business application
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software. Prior use of VIP or similar software package is preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented.
  • Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence and auto insurance.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, MVR and drug screen
  • Work effectively with internal and external individuals, including other professionals in the community
  • Work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Effectively communicate to various internal and external audiences in both person and through various electronic media.
  • Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
