FirstFour Staffing is looking for a driven Operations Process Engineer to join our client, a leading steel manufacturing facility, to support the launch and operation of a new 600,000+ square foot facility. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a greenfield project from the ground up — participating in design reviews, assessing equipment performance, developing commissioning plans, and transitioning into a key role within the Operations Team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in design reviews, equipment assessments, and commissioning activities for the APL.

  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on process optimization, product quality, cost reduction, and environmental performance.

  • Develop and maintain process models, instrumentation standards, and statistical systems that define product and process capabilities.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to operations personnel; analyze process data and present findings to senior management.

  • Develop and refine inspection and testing methodologies.

  • Uphold company values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Relationships, and Sustainability while ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards.

  • Contribute to a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration across departments.


What You’ll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.

  • Experience in continuous steel processing operations, specifically involving soaking furnaces (natural gas and electric) and pickling processes.

  • Strong understanding of steel strip properties and applications.

Technical Skills

  • Proven problem-solving and analytical ability.

  • Working knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, and process modeling.

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and statistics (design of experiments, model formulation).

Personal Attributes

  • Hands-on, collaborative team player with strong leadership and communication skills.

  • High level of initiative, organization, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong professionalism, discretion, and work ethic — able to overcome challenges common in greenfield projects.


Work Environment

  • Combination of office and industrial settings 

  • Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, with extended hours as required during peak project phases.
